How long do epoxy countertops last? 

  • Epoxy countertops can last just as long as traditonal countertops if they are installed correctly. It's important to read the spec sheet and ensure the product has proper time to cure. Most mistakes are made during the install or from poor prep, so if you are going to install your epoxy countertops yourself, make sure you take the extra time to read up on the product and don't cut any corners when it comes to prep. We've had our personal countertops for 8 years without any issues. If you are using this product for commercial use in a bar setting, you might need to get them touched up every 5 years, but generally speaking, they hold up just as good as anything.

    • What is the downside of epoxy countertops? 

  • As we alluded to above: there is a learning curve when it comes to the installation. However, as long as you take your time to read the spec sheet, prep the surface properly and ensure you have the proper amount of resin to get the job done -- you won't have any problems. Doing a custom epoxy countertop isn't exactly rocket science, but you do need to follow the process or you can get some messy results. 

    • Do Epoxy Countertops Scratch Easily?

  • Generally speaking, epoxy countertops can scratch pretty easily. That's why it's important to use a high quality product with a top coat that is specifcally made for countertops. These coatings are made to be a lot more scratch resistant and help perseve the surface.     • What is the average price of an epoxy countertop?

  • The price of epoxy countertops can vary greatly. Obviously it is going to cost more to hire a professional, but you can get kits to do a standard size countertop for less than $1,000. Epoxy resin countertops are a cheaper alternative to higher end countertops like marble or courtz, but the cheapest option is still vinyl.     • Can you put hot stuff on epoxy countertops?

Not only is the top coat scratch resistant, but it is heat resistant as well. Now, we wouldn't recommend putting a boiling pan of water on your countertops, but a hot cup off coffe or a plate out of the microwave isn't going to do any harm!
